PAX East Round Up

PAX East 2014 has come and gone, and even though we didn’t have a booth, we’re excited for how busy we were at the convention! Our community manager, Becky, started the week touring and speaking at Northeastern, WPI, and Fitchburg State University about how students can get a head start in the game industry.

Her talks reviewed how to network, what you should be focusing on while still in school, interview tips, and much more. Becky strongly feels that students should start as soon as possible with working on side projects and showing their eagerness to learn. Stay tuned for a blog post reviewing what she talked about!

On Friday, the first night of PAX East, Signal Studios was proud to sponsor 8bit Boston and Extra Life by donating a signed Xbox One! This prize was combined with other game prizes such as Titanfall and Plants vs. Zombies. At the party, several Xbox’s were set up where players could play Toy Soldiers: Cold War on XBLA! With the help of our Xbox One donation 8bit Boston raised $1000 from the charity raffle!

We’re proud to say that due to the overwhelming success of 8bit Boston, Structured Gaming has announced that they will be working on another one next year!

Saturday was a very busy day. Becky spent her time on the show floor talking to people about Signal Studios and our games.  PC players were very excited to hear that Toy Soldiers: Complete is now available on Steam!

PAX East was CROWDED this year! Luckily, Becky was still able to snag some journalists for a quick demo of The Sleeping Prince on her iPad. Players loved the unique controls of the game and had a great laugh flinging the sleeping prince around!

Saturday night, Becky went to the PC Gamer PAX party at The Estate to spread the word about Toy Soldiers: Complete to some hardcore PC gamers with the fantastic tunes of The Crystal Method. The party also had ASUS Republic of Gamers G750 laptops available for demoing games!

Even though PAX East 2014 has come to an end, we’re already excited about PAX Prime 2014! Did you attend PAX East this year? What was your favorite game at the show?
