Invalid scan freq

When I try to start the game my monitor stops working and gives me an Invalid scan freq error. My monitor stars working again when I minimize the game with the Windows key but I cannot play the game like this. I have also tried messing around with compatibility but that does nothing.

I have managed to make my monitor display the game by using print-schreen schreenshots pasted in paint to navigate the options menu and disable some grapical settings.

Prehaps you should make the game when it first starts run with some of these options disabled by default?
